The Oklahoman reports today computers at the Department of Public Safety have been down since Sunday, meaning, in part tag agents are unable to process license renewals. If you're one of the unfortunate folks whose license expired during the outage, you'd think some provision would be made should you be stopped, but, not so, apparently:
"DPS confirmed that there won't be any lenience for people who drive with expired licenses since the system went down. Driving with an expired license is still against the law, so renewals will have to wait until the system is back online."
Thus the Catch-22: it's illegal to drive with an expired license, but you can't get your license renewed if it expired during the outage.
